Work Environment in Jordan

I'm just blessed to be working at a place where I really enjoy the environment, but what I hear from my friends is just crazy.

Few people are happy at work in Jordan, literally few. Generally you would definitely hear comments like the below, if not all, at least two.

1. Long working hours and no overtime payments.
2. No raise and I've been working for two years now.
3. Someone who does not deserve the position took it because of strings he/she pulled.
4. I'm quitting anyway, I just need to find another job.
5. Fixed working hours is just stupid, if I come in 5mins late they cut it off the salary, but if I stay for two hours after no one counts.
6. Facebook, Twitter and Youtube are banned, I do not get why gchat is banned too!
7. I don't have e-mail at work, no internet access.

I try to write long worthy e-mails at work because generally people like to have the hellos and thankyous and all the cliche in between before getting to the point, that whenever I come here I just feel tired of words.

So to make myself short, we are at a time in our lives where countries have been flipped by facebook and twitter. Where an Egyptian named his new born "Facebook" instead of the common revolution names like "Thawra" after the Egyptian president was taken out of the equation, and yet Jordanian private sector companies do not allow e-mail at work, or facebook or twitter..

Shut up.

Welcome to the American workplace too.

Why no fb? Because you are there to work for the company, not chat!

    Hey Kinzi:)

First, the above doesn't apply to my work environment..

Yes we're here to work, but that doesn't mean if im taking some time off i can't chat or do something on facebook, it's like blocking sms on your phone, not allowing you to do phone calls. If someone is going to get away from the work he's got to do, he would whether facebook was the distraction means or not. That's what I think.
